How parlays work
A parlay multiplies the decimal odds of every leg into a single combined price. All legs must win for the parlay to cash. One losing leg voids the entire ticket. Most TN sportsbooks offer parlays from two legs up to 12 or 15 legs depending on the operator.
Math
Parlay decimal odds = product of each leg's decimal odds. Total payout = stake × parlay decimal. Profit = payout − stake. Implied probability = 1 / parlay decimal × 100%.
Same Game Parlays vs. traditional parlays
Same Game Parlays use correlated pricing because the legs share an underlying game outcome (e.g. Mahomes 300+ yards plus Chiefs to win are positively correlated). The calculator above assumes independent legs, which is correct for traditional parlays but overestimates payout for heavily correlated SGPs. For SGPs, use the price the book quotes directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is a parlay calculated?
Parlay decimal odds equal the product of each leg's decimal odds. Two -110 legs (each 1.909 decimal) produce a parlay of 3.64 decimal, or +264 American. Total payout is stake times parlay decimal. Profit is payout minus stake.
What is the max number of legs in a TN parlay?
FanDuel and DraftKings both support up to 12 legs on multi-game parlays. Bet365 supports 12. Caesars and BetMGM allow up to 15 on some sports. Larger parlays produce extremely long odds; few cash.
Does this calculator work for Same Game Parlays?
No. SGPs use the book's correlation model rather than independent leg multiplication. The fair price the book quotes already accounts for correlation. This calculator assumes independent legs, which is correct for traditional parlays only.
Why do parlays have higher hold than straight bets?
The book's edge compounds with each leg. A single -110 spread has 4.5% effective hold. A 3-leg parlay has ~12.7%. A 6-leg parlay approaches 25%. The math punishes large parlays even with break-even individual legs.
Can I have a leg push in a TN parlay?
Yes. A pushed leg (final score lands exactly on the spread or total) reduces the parlay to the remaining active legs. Most TN books recompute the parlay payout based on the surviving legs only. Check the specific rules at your sportsbook.
